Walk in the footsteps of Martin Luther as you visit Augsburg, where he defended his beliefs, stand inside Wartburg Castle where he translated the New Testament, and explore Wittenberg—the very birthplace of the Reformation. Along the way, discover the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach in Eisenach and experience the beauty of cities like Erfurt, Dresden, and Berlin.

Itinerary

 

Day 1 – June 4 : Departure from the USA

Your journey begins today as you depart on your overnight flight to Germany. Settle in, enjoy your in-flight experience, and prepare your heart and mind for a meaningful journey through the lands of the Reformation.


Day 2 – June 5 : Arrival in Munich

Welcome to Germany! Upon arrival at Munich International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by your professional English-speaking tour escort. We board our coach and transfer to the hotel for check-in and time to refresh after the journey. This evening, gather with your group for a welcome dinner at the hotel—your first taste of German hospitality.

Day 3 – June 6 : Munich – Augsburg

After breakfast, we begin with a short introduction to Munich, exploring highlights such as the Frauenkirche, the Neues Rathaus, and the famous Glockenspiel at Marienplatz. We then continue to Augsburg, a city deeply connected to the story of the Reformation. After free time for lunch, we meet our local guide for a meaningful visit through the city where Martin Luther defended his 95 Theses in 1518. We explore the Renaissance Town Hall, the Church of the Holy Cross—where Luther stayed—and St. Anne’s Church, home to the Luther courtyard and Fugger Chapel.

Dinner and overnight in Augsburg. 


Day 4 – June 7 : Augsburg – Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Following breakfast, we journey along the scenic Romantic Road, passing through charming medieval towns such as Donauwörth and Dinkelsbühl. Arriving in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns, we step into a storybook setting of cobblestone streets, towers, and ancient walls. During our guided walk, we’ll see the Town Hall, historic gates, and the famous Meistertrunk clock. The remainder of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. Dinner and overnight in Rothenburg. 


Day 5 – June 8 : Rothenburg – Wartburg – Eisenach – Erfurt

Today we travel to Wartburg Castle, one of the most significant sites of the Reformation. Here, Martin Luther lived in hiding and translated the New Testament into German. We continue to Eisenach, the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach, visiting the Bach House Museum and enjoying a short live concert. We also visit the Luther House Museum before continuing to Erfurt. Dinner and overnight in Erfurt. 


Day 6 – June 9 : Erfurt – Dresden

This morning, we explore Erfurt, a city closely tied to Luther’s early life. We visit St. Augustine’s Monastery, where Luther lived as a monk, along with views of the Erfurt Cathedral, Severikirche, and the unique Krämer Bridge lined with shops. After free time for lunch, we continue to Dresden. Upon arrival, enjoy a panoramic tour of the beautifully restored Old Town, including the Zwinger Palace, Semper Opera House, and the Elbe River. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Dresden. 


Day 7 – June 10 : Dresden – Wittenberg

After breakfast, we journey to Wittenberg—the heart of the Reformation. With our local guide, we explore the city where Martin Luther lived, taught, and sparked a movement that changed the world. We visit the Castle Church, where Luther posted his 95 Theses, as well as Luther House, Melanchthon’s House, and St. Mary’s Church where Luther preached.

Day 8 – June 11 : Wittenberg – Luther Wedding Festival

Today we step back in time as Wittenberg comes alive with the Luther Wedding Festival, celebrating the marriage of Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora in 1525. Enjoy a full day immersed in Renaissance markets, music, reenactments, and festive celebrations throughout the town. Dinner and overnight in Wittenberg. 


Day 9 – June 12 : Wittenberg – Luther Wedding Festival 

We continue enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the festival. The streets are filled with costumes, performances, and historical scenes that bring the Reformation era to life. Enjoy free time to explore, shop, or simply take in the unique experience. Dinner and overnight in Wittenberg. 


Day 10 – June 13 : Wittenberg – Berlin

After a final morning at the Luther Festival, we depart for Berlin. Upon arrival, we explore the highlights of Germany’s capital, including Alexanderplatz, Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Tiergarten, and more. This evening, we gather for a special farewell dinner as we reflect on the journey and the powerful stories experienced along the way. Overnight in Berlin. 


Day 11 – June 14 : Departure from Berlin

After breakfast, we transfer to Berlin Brandenburg Airport for our return flight home, carrying with us unforgettable memories from this journey through the heart of the Reformation.
