Later, cross the iconic Charles Bridge, where statues of saints watch over the Vltava River below. From there, continue into Prague’s Old Town and visit Bethlehem Chapel, closely associated with the reformer Jan Hus. His teachings helped inspire movements that would later shape the Protestant Reformation. Continue to the lively Old Town Square where you will see the famous Astronomical Clock and the powerful Jan Hus Monument standing at the heart of the city. Enjoy lunch on your own in one of the many cafés and restaurants surrounding the square. The afternoon is free to explore Prague at your own pace—perhaps strolling through hidden alleyways, browsing shops, or enjoying a coffee in one of the city’s historic cafés. During your guided tour, walk through Dresden’s beautifully restored Old Town. See architectural treasures such as the Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House, and the grand squares and riverbanks along the Elbe River. Your guide will share the remarkable story of Dresden’s destruction during the war and its inspiring reconstruction. Later, check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Dresden.
Day 5 – Leipzig and On to Berlin
After breakfast, depart Dresden and travel to Leipzig, one of the most significant cities of the Reformation and German musical history. Visit St. Thomas Church, where Martin Luther once preached and where Johann Sebastian Bach later served as cantor for nearly three decades. Continue to St. Nicholas Church, a place of prayer that became central to the peaceful demonstrations that helped bring down the East German communist regime in 1989. After time for lunch, continue north to Germany’s vibrant capital city—Berlin. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Berlin.
Day 6 – Berlin and the Witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Today you will explore Berlin, a city that reflects both the triumphs and tragedies of modern history. During your guided tour, see important landmarks including the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the State Opera House, St. Mary’s Church, and the remains of the Berlin Wall that once divided the city.
Visit the magnificent Berlin Cathedral, an architectural centerpiece of the city. In the afternoon, visit the Bonhoeffer House, the home of Lutheran pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer courageously resisted the Nazi regime, standing firm in his Christian faith during one of the darkest chapters of European history. His witness continues to inspire Christians around the world. Dinner this evening will be enjoyed at a local restaurant. Overnight in Berlin.
Day 7 – Wittenberg: Where the Reformation Began
After breakfast, depart Berlin for Wittenberg—the town forever linked with Martin Luther and the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. Here you will walk the same streets where Luther lived, taught, and challenged the religious structures of his time. Visit the historic Castle Church, where Luther famously posted his Ninety-Five Theses in 1517. Inside the church are the graves of both Martin Luther and his colleague Philip Melanchthon. Continue to Luther House, once the reformer’s home and now one of the most important museums dedicated to Reformation history. You will also visit Melanchthon’s House and St. Mary’s Church, where Luther frequently preached. Strolling through the town square, you will see the Luther Monument and the historic Town Hall—powerful reminders of the events that reshaped Christianity. After the tour, check into your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Wittenberg.
Day 8 – Wartburg Castle, Eisenach, and Bach’s Legacy
Today you travel deeper into the story of the Reformation. Your first stop is Wartburg Castle, perched high above the forests of Thuringia. It was here that Martin Luther found refuge while translating the New Testament into German—an achievement that profoundly shaped both the German language and the spread of the Reformation. Continue to the town of Eisenach, the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach. Visit the Luther House and the Bach House Museum, dedicated to the life and legacy of one of history’s greatest composers. During your visit, enjoy a short concert featuring historic instruments. Later, continue to the charming medieval city of Erfurt. Dinner and overnight in Erfurt.
Day 9 – Worms and the Courage of Conviction
After breakfast, begin the journey toward Mainz, stopping along the way in the historic city of Worms. Worms holds a pivotal place in Reformation history. In 1521, Martin Luther stood before the Diet of Worms to defend his writings. When asked to recant, he famously declared that his conscience was captive to the Word of God. During your visit, see the powerful Reformation Monument and Worms Cathedral, both reminders of this defining moment in church history. After lunch, continue to the beautiful Rhine River region and the city of Mainz. Dinner and overnight in Mainz.
Day 10 – The Rhine Valley and Gutenberg’s Legacy

After returning to Mainz, enjoy lunch on your own before exploring the city. Visit the Gutenberg Museum, dedicated to Johannes Gutenberg and his revolutionary invention of the printing press—an innovation that helped spread the ideas of the Reformation across Europe.
You will also visit the magnificent Mainz Cathedral, which has stood at the heart of the city for more than a thousand years. This evening, gather for a memorable farewell dinner as you reflect on the remarkable journey you have shared together. Overnight in Mainz.
