Day 1 – September 18: Departure from the USA
Depart from the United States on your overnight flight to Prague, Czech Republic. Your journey through the heart of Europe begins as we prepare to explore the places and stories of the Reformation, along with the history, culture, and traditions of Germany.
Day 2 – September 19: Arrival in Prague
Upon arrival in Prague, meet your tour escort and board the private coach for your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, enjoy dinner at the hotel and time to rest after your international journey. Overnight in Prague.

Day 3 – September 20: Prague
After breakfast, enjoy a half-day guided sightseeing tour of Prague. Begin at Hradčany Castle and explore St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Castle, St. George’s Basilica, and Golden Lane. Later, cross the historic Charles Bridge into Prague’s Old Town. Visit Bethlehem Chapel, closely associated with Jan Hus and the early reform movement. Continue to Old Town Square to see the famous Astronomical Clock and the Jan Hus Monument. Lunch will be on your own, followed by free time to explore Prague. This evening, gather for a special welcome dinner accompanied by a traditional Czech folklore show.

Day 4 – September 21: Prague – Dresden
After breakfast, check out and depart Prague for Dresden. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour of Dresden’s historic Old Town, including the Zwinger Palace, Semper Opera House, and a walk along the Elbe River. Along the way, learn about the devastating destruction Dresden experienced during World War II and the remarkable restoration of the city in the decades that followed. Lunch will be on your own. Check in at the hotel and enjoy dinner together.

Day 5 – September 22: Dresden – Leipzig – Berlin
After breakfast, depart Dresden and travel to Leipzig. Enjoy a guided tour of this historic city, including a visit to St. Thomas Church, where Martin Luther preached and where Johann Sebastian Bach later served as cantor and director of music. Continue to St. Nicholas Church, which became a center for peaceful prayer gatherings and demonstrations that played an important role in the fall of East German communism in 1989. After lunch on your own, continue to Berlin. Check in at the hotel and enjoy dinner together.

Day 6 – September 23: Berlin & Bonhoeffer House
After breakfast, meet your local guide for a full-day exploration of Berlin. See many of the city’s important landmarks, including the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, remnants of the Berlin Wall, St. Hedwig’s Cathedral, the State Opera House, St. Mary’s Church, Brandenburg Gate, and Checkpoint Charlie. Visit the magnificent Berlin Cathedral, one of the city’s most important Protestant churches. After lunch on your own, visit the Bonhoeffer House and learn more about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German pastor and theologian whose Christian faith led him to resist National Socialism. His theological convictions shaped his actions, eventually bringing him into conflict with the Nazi regime and costing him his life. Return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 7 – September 24: Berlin – Wittenberg
After breakfast, depart Berlin for Wittenberg, one of the most important cities of the Protestant Reformation. Meet your local guide and explore the places connected to Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon. Visit All Saints’ Castle Church, traditionally associated with Luther’s 95 Theses and home to the graves of Luther and Melanchthon. See the university where Luther taught and visit Melanchthon’s House. Explore the Luther House or the temporary Luther exhibition available during the museum’s renovation. Continue to the Stadtkirche of St. Marien, where Luther frequently preached, and see the Luther Monument and historic Town Hall. Check in at the hotel and enjoy dinner.

Day 8 – September 25: Wittenberg – Wartburg Castle – Eisenach – Erfurt
After breakfast, depart for Eisenach. Along the way, visit magnificent Wartburg Castle, where Martin Luther lived in hiding and translated the New Testament into German. Continue to Eisenach, birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach. Visit the Luther House Museum and then the Bach House, the first museum dedicated to the life, music, and legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach. Enjoy a special 20-minute concert featuring historic instruments. Later, continue to Erfurt, check in at the hotel, and enjoy dinner.

Day 9 – September 26: Erfurt – Munich
After breakfast, check out and begin the journey south to Munich. Enjoy the changing German countryside along the way, with a stop for lunch on your own. Upon arrival in Munich, check in at the hotel and enjoy dinner together.

Day 10 – September 27: Munich & Oktoberfest
After breakfast, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Munich. Visit Marienplatz and see the world-famous Glockenspiel and the twin-towered Frauenkirche, one of Munich’s best-known landmarks. Continue through the historic center, seeing the Asamkirche, Town Hall, Feldherrnhalle, Ludwigstrasse, Siegestor, the Residenz, and Hofgarten.
Then it is time for one of Bavaria’s most famous traditions—Oktoberfest!
Enjoy lunch together at one of the Oktoberfest beer tents before having the afternoon free to explore the festival at your own pace. Experience Bavarian food, music, traditions, and the lively atmosphere of this world-famous celebration.
Dinner will be on your own.

Day 11 – September 28: Munich – Worms – Mainz
After breakfast, depart Munich and travel toward Mainz, stopping along the way in Worms, one of Germany’s oldest cities. Enjoy a guided tour highlighting the city’s important role in the Reformation. See the impressive Luther Monument and visit Worms Cathedral. Learn about the famous Diet of Worms of 1521, where Martin Luther appeared before the imperial assembly and was called upon to respond to charges concerning his writings and teachings. Continue to Mainz, check in at the hotel, and enjoy dinner.

Day 12 – September 29: Rhine River Cruise & Mainz
After breakfast, drive to Rüdesheim and board a scenic cruise along one of the most beautiful sections of the Rhine River. Sail through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape known for its vineyards, medieval castles, charming villages, and dramatic river scenery. After the cruise, return by coach to Mainz. Following lunch on your own, enjoy a guided tour of Mainz and visit the Gutenberg Museum, where you can see one of the original Gutenberg Bibles and learn about Johannes Gutenberg and the revolutionary development of movable-type printing. Also visit Mainz Cathedral, with more than 1,000 years of history and sacred architecture. Return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 13 – September 30: Mainz – Frankfurt – Return to the USA
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer by private coach to Frankfurt International Airport for your return flight to the United States.
Return home with wonderful memories of Prague and Germany, the story of the Reformation, the legacy of Luther and Bonhoeffer, the music of Bach, the beauty of the Rhine, and the culture and traditions experienced along the way.
