Martin Luther, upon being asked if he stood by the contents of his books and writings, said I am bound by the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything, since it is neither safe nor right to go against conscience. May God help me. Amen. As we experience the wonder and thrill of a Reformation Tour through Germany, we will not only glory in the splendor of beautiful, captivating surroundings, but we will also gain insight and a greater appreciation for the courage and convictions of Martin Luther and others who participated in the Reformation. Perhaps we will even come away with a desire to live our own lives more courageously and purposefully.
