Itinerary

 

Day 1 – February 9 - Departure from the USA

Depart today on your overnight flight to Italy. As you begin your journey across the Atlantic, enjoy dinner and in-flight entertainment while anticipating the days ahead exploring one of the world’s most historic and inspiring destinations.


Day 2 – February 10 - Arrive in Rome

Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport, meet your tour escort after baggage claim. Transfer by private motorcoach to your hotel for check-in and time to rest after your journey. This evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner, a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another and begin experiencing the warmth of Italian hospitality. Overnight in Rome


Day 3 – February 11 - Ancient Rome & Footsteps of St. Paul

Begin your day exploring the remarkable remains of Ancient Rome. Visit the mighty Colosseum, the largest amphitheater ever built in the Roman Empire, where thousands once gathered to witness gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. Continue to the Roman Forum, the political and social center of ancient Rome where leaders such as Julius Caesar and Cicero once walked. After lunch, travel along the historic Appian Way, one of the oldest roads of the Roman Empire and part of the journey associated with the Apostle Paul’s arrival in Rome (Acts 28:11–16).

Visit the Catacombs, underground burial places used by early Christians that offer a glimpse into the faith of the early church. Continue to Tre Fontane Abbey, the traditional site of the martyrdom of St. Paul. According to tradition, three springs appeared where Paul’s head touched the ground.

Conclude the day with a visit to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, built over the tomb of the Apostle Paul.

Return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight in Rome


Day 4 – February 12 - Vatican City & Historic Rome

This morning we visit Vatican City, the spiritual center of the Roman Catholic Church.

Explore the Vatican Museums, home to one of the world’s most extraordinary art collections gathered by the popes over centuries. Continue to the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s magnificent ceiling and the dramatic “Last Judgment” fresco inspire visitors from around the world. Next, enter St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in Christendom. Inside, admire masterpieces including Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s bronze canopy above the high altar. After lunch, explore the heart of historic Rome. Visit Piazza Navona, famous for its elegant fountains and lively atmosphere. Continue to the impressive Pantheon, one of the best-preserved monuments from ancient Rome.

Stop at the famous Trevi Fountain, where tradition invites visitors to toss a coin to ensure a return to Rome. Nearby, climb the iconic Spanish Steps or enjoy time wandering the surrounding streets filled with cafés and shops.

Return to the hotel. Overnight in Rome


Day 5 – February 13 - Rome – Leisure 

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Rome. You may choose to visit additional museums such as the Galleria Borghese, explore historic churches, or simply enjoy a cappuccino in one of Rome’s charming cafés.

Later, explore the lively neighborhood of Trastevere, one of Rome’s most authentic districts known for its narrow cobblestone streets and colorful buildings. Visit the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest churches in Rome. In the evening. Overnight in Rome


Day 6 – February 14 - Rome – Assisi

After breakfast, depart Rome and travel north through the beautiful countryside of Umbria, often called the “green heart of Italy.” Arrive in the peaceful hilltop town of Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. Visit the magnificent Basilica of St. Francis, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning frescoes depicting the life of the saint. Descend to the crypt to see the tomb of St. Francis. Continue to the Basilica of St. Clare, dedicated to St. Clare, a close follower of Francis and founder of the Order of Poor Ladies. Also visit Santa Maria degli Angeli, home to the small Porziuncola Chapel, where St. Francis founded the Franciscan order. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Assisi


Day 7 – February 15 - Assisi – Tuscany – Florence

Depart Assisi this morning and journey north through the scenic countryside of Tuscany, a region famous for its rolling hills, olive groves, and charming villages. Along the way, stop at a traditional Tuscan farmhouse for a special hands-on cooking experience. Learn how to prepare classic Italian dishes using fresh regional ingredients while discovering the traditions of Tuscan cuisine. After preparing the meal together, enjoy the delicious dishes you helped create while surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Tuscan countryside. Continue to Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance.

Check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Florence


Day 8 – February 16 - Florence

Begin your day with a guided walking tour of Florence’s historic center. Visit Piazza della Signoria, the political heart of the city, and admire the sculptures that decorate the square. Continue to Santa Croce Church, where many famous Italians including Michelangelo and Galileo are buried. Marvel at the magnificent Florence Cathedral (Duomo) with Brunelleschi’s famous dome. Nearby stands the Baptistry with its beautiful bronze doors known as the “Gates of Paradise.” Visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s masterpiece, the statue of David. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore Florence, shop for leather goods, or relax in one of the city’s charming cafés. Overnight in Florence


Day 9 – February 17 - Florence –  Venice Area

Depart Florence and travel to north through the Italian countryside toward the Venice region (Padova or Mestre). Check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Venice area


Day 10 – February 18 - Historic Venice

Travel into the magical city of Venice, built on more than one hundred small islands connected by canals and bridges. Begin a guided walking tour visiting St. Mark’s Square, the heart of Venice. Explore the magnificent St. Mark’s Basilica, famous for its golden mosaics. Visit the Doge’s Palace, once the center of political power in the Venetian Republic, and see the historic Bridge of Sighs. Walk through lively streets to the famous Rialto Bridge, one of Venice’s most iconic landmarks. Enjoy free time for a gondola ride, shopping for Murano glass, or relaxing at a café beside a picturesque canal. Return to the hotel for dinner. Overnight in Venice area


Day 11 – February 19 - Depart Venice for USA

After breakfast, transfer to Venice Airport for your return flight to the United States. As your journey concludes, take with you wonderful memories of Italy’s inspiring history, beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and meaningful spiritual heritage. Arrive in the USA the same day.
