Overview

Join Sister Tashina Good and the people of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church for a meaningful journey through Egypt, a land of Scripture, ancient history, living faith, and unforgettable beauty.

Together, we will stand before the Pyramids of Giza, sail the legendary Nile River, explore ancient temples, and experience the history and culture of one of the world’s great civilizations.

But this journey is about much more than the monuments of ancient Egypt. We will also discover Egypt’s deep and often overlooked Christian heritage. In Old Cairo, we will visit historic Coptic churches, including the Hanging Church and the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, traditionally connected to the journey of the Holy Family through Egypt.

Along the way, we will learn about Egypt’s biblical connections, the early Christian church, and the ancient monastic tradition of the Desert Fathers and Mothers, whose communities helped shape Christian spirituality for generations.

There will also be time for fellowship, conversation, prayer, wonderful food, and encounters with the people and culture of Egypt.

We invite you to come with us, not simply as tourists, but as pilgrims, ready to learn, reflect, experience, and discover Egypt together through the lenses of faith, Scripture, history, culture, and community.
