Day 1 – September 22: Departure from the USA
Your pilgrimage begins today as you depart on your overnight flight to Porto, Portugal. As you cross the Atlantic, prepare not only for a journey through beautiful landscapes but also for a centuries-old pilgrimage that has transformed the lives of travelers from around the world. Rest onboard and begin reflecting on the days ahead.
Day 2 – September 23: Arrival in Porto
Welcome to Portugal! Upon arrival in Porto, you will be met by your tour manager and transferred to your hotel. After time to rest and refresh, enjoy an introductory walking tour through one of Europe's most charming cities. Wander the colorful Ribeira district, admire the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, stroll through historic squares, and soak in the atmosphere along the Douro River. This evening, gather for a welcome dinner as you meet your fellow pilgrims and prepare to begin the Camino tomorrow. Dinner and overnight in Porto.
Day 3 – September 24: Porto – Sarria
After breakfast, depart Porto and travel into the beautiful region of Galicia, Spain, arriving in Sarria, the traditional starting point for pilgrims walking the final 100 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago.
Spend the afternoon exploring the medieval streets of Sarria, visit the Church of Santa Mariña, receive your Camino Credential (Pilgrim Passport), and enjoy an orientation for the days ahead. This evening, gather for dinner and prepare for the first day on the trail. Dinner and overnight in Sarria.
Day 4 – September 25: Sarria – Ferreiros
(8.5 miles | 13.7 km | approx. 20,000 steps)
Today your Camino officially begins. Leaving Sarria, you'll walk through peaceful oak forests, charming villages, and rolling Galician countryside. Along the route you'll pass the symbolic 100-kilometer marker, the minimum distance required to receive the Compostela certificate. Walking at a relaxed pace allows time for conversation, prayer, and reflection before arriving in the small pilgrim village of Ferreiros. Dinner and overnight in Ferreiros.
Day 5 – September 26: Ferreiros – Portomarín
(6.5 miles | 10.5 km | approx. 15,500 steps)
Continue through beautiful countryside toward the historic town of Portomarín. Crossing the Miño River, you'll discover a town rebuilt stone by stone after the original village was submerged beneath a reservoir. Visit the impressive fortified Church of San Nicolás before enjoying free time to explore this charming Camino town. Dinner and overnight in Portomarín.
Day 6 – September 27: Portomarín – Gonzar
(8 miles | 13 km | approx. 19,000 steps)
Today's journey leads through forests, farmland, and peaceful Galician villages. Along the way you'll pass traditional granaries, ancient stone crosses, and Romanesque churches that have welcomed pilgrims for centuries. The slower pace allows time to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of the Camino. Dinner and overnight in Gonzar.
Day 7 – September 28: Gonzar – Palas de Rei
(8 miles | 12 km | approx. 18,500 steps)
Continue your pilgrimage through the heart of Galicia toward Palas de Rei. Along the route you'll encounter quiet woodlands, small farming communities, and beautiful rural landscapes. As each day passes, friendships deepen and the Camino begins to reveal its unique rhythm. Dinner and overnight in Palas de Rei.
Day 8 – September 29: Palas de Rei – Melide
(9.1 miles | 14.7 km | approx. 21,500 steps)
Today's walk blends history and culture as you journey toward Melide. Cross the beautiful medieval Furelos Bridge and visit the Church of St. María of Leboreiro. Melide is famous throughout Galicia for its traditional octopus (Pulpo a la Gallega), making it one of the culinary highlights along the Camino.
Take time to wander the lively streets and experience the warm hospitality of this historic pilgrim town.

Day 9 – September 30: Melide – Arzúa
(8.8 miles | 14 km | approx. 20,500 steps)
Today's trail winds through eucalyptus forests, quiet villages, and scenic farmland. Visit the Church of Santa María Magdalena before arriving in Arzúa, where pilgrims from different Camino routes begin merging together as Santiago draws near. Enjoy free time to explore the town or simply relax before tomorrow's longer walk.

Day 10 – October 1: Arzúa – O Pedrouzo (Arca do Pino)
(14.2 miles | 22.8 km | approx. 33,000 steps)
Today's walk brings a growing sense of anticipation. The trail winds beneath shaded forests and through picturesque hamlets as every step brings you closer to Santiago de Compostela. Along the way you'll encounter fellow pilgrims from around the world, each with their own unique story and reason for walking the Camino.
As the journey nears its conclusion, many pilgrims find these final miles among the most meaningful.

Day 11 – October 2: O Pedrouzo – Santiago de Compostela
(12 miles | 19 km | approx. 28,000 steps)
Today is the joyful culmination of your pilgrimage. Walk through Monte do Gozo (Mount of Joy), where pilgrims receive their first breathtaking view of the towers of Santiago Cathedral. Continue into the historic city, arriving at the magnificent Obradoiro Square before the Cathedral of St. James.
Celebrate your accomplishment with time for prayer, photos, and reflection before attending the Pilgrims' Mass (schedule permitting). Receive your Compostela Certificate before enjoying a festive farewell dinner with your fellow travelers. Dinner and overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 12 – October 3: Santiago – Porto Airport – Departure
After breakfast, depart Santiago and travel south to Porto International Airport for your return flight home.
